The Institute for Health Metrics is a non-profit organization dedicated to research, education and advocacy in healthcare. Our mission is to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of patient care across the United States by measuring and analyzing data related to quality care delivery across large patient populations and educating providers, vendors, researchers and public health organizations on best practice care delivery.
We achieve this mission by analyzing aggregated, de-identified, clinical and financial data coming right out of hospital systems. This includes both trended data as well as real time data while patients are still in the hospital. Our access to large volumes of data ensures that the research we provide is statistically significant and reliable.
We then work with hospitals and our strategic partners, MEDITECH and IHM Services, to turn that information into action. We provide them with effective care metrics and risk adjustment algorithms based on best practice protocols to improve the effectiveness, safety and efficiency of healthcare using health data. MEDITECH uses this information within their applications to help unify clinical, administrative, and financial information across a wide variety of health care organizations. IHM uses it to create clinical and regulatory reporting solutions that support compliance with quality improvement programs and clinical surveillance.
