Meditech and IHM

IHM works primarily with acute care hospitals that use the Meditech clinical information management system (CIMS). The Meditech system has been implemented in some 2000 community hospitals in the U.S., accounting for a large percentage of the community hospitals nationwide. IHM is not, however, limited to a single hospital information management system.

As an IHM Partner, Meditech has committed to providing all necessary technical insight, network operating specifications, and data system configurations as IHM may require. All of IHM's technical implementations are enabled directly by Meditech.

Senior Meditech management executives are available to answer inquiries concerning IHM products and services. For more information, or to arrange a presentation, please contact your senior Meditech representative.

Meditech's Recent Press Release:

MEDITECH Strategically Aligns with The Institute for Health Metrics

"This is a very good time to be implementing evidence-based medicine and outcomes measurement tools, as well as Advanced Clinical Systems, because these advancements are now practical realities that can be effectively integrated into clinicians' workflows and help, rather than delay, the care process," says Howard Messing, president and COO of MEDITECH.

MEDITECH is pleased to announce a strategic alliance with The Institute for Health Metrics (Burlington, MA), a non-profit organization that supports quality and operational improvements in hospitals. Together, MEDITECH and the Institute for Health Metrics (IHM) are working to turn data from MEDITECH's Health Care Information System into outcomes measurements and reports, while progressing toward the goal of improving the safety and efficiency of patient care.

Since its inception in June 2003, IHM has devoted itself entirely to hospitals that use MEDITECH's information system. IHM's products are focused on automating the data extraction process so customers can devote their resources to efficiently analyzing hospital data and implementing improvements, rather than gathering and collating data.

Hospitals that collaborate with IHM work with an organization that has an unparalleled understanding of data extraction and analysis, as well as a thorough understanding of JCAHO requirements. Collaborations with IHM will be highly beneficial to hospitals using MEDITECH's system given that these organizations will be able to automate data collection - thereby freeing up valuable staff time and sparing their employees the tedious processes normally required to manually extract JCAHO core measures. IHM estimates hospitals typically devote one clinical FTE per 100 beds to manually extract JCAHO data. Hospitals that use IHM report improved outcomes, thereby maximizing their return on investment.
